Electricians
Google Ads and tracking for electrical businesses.
Licensed trade status raises the trust bar, and the ad has to clear it before the click earns its price. Emergency callouts and scheduled installs carry different economics and different keyword intent.

I run Google Ads for electrical businesses around the service calls and installations your crew handles. An electrical fault and a planned panel upgrade are different purchases with different trust bars. An emergency is won by whoever answers and can dispatch. An upgrade is decided after the licence check, the estimate, and the permit conversation.
Every engagement gets a fixed test budget and an end date, both in writing before launch. Track the services bringing calls and forms, check lead fit, and cut irrelevant spend.
Trust comes before the click
Electrical work asks a higher trust question than most home trades. The homeowner is letting someone work on a panel, wiring, or a charger that affects home safety. That question gets answered in the ad and on the page, or you pay for clicks that never call.
Where required in your area, the ad and landing page should make your license, insurance, service area, hours, and job scope easy to read. Permit rules vary by city and state, so this page does not make a blanket legal claim.
Emergency work and projects are different purchases
“Electrician” is a search word, not a single job size. A dead outlet, a panel upgrade, an EV charger install, and a commercial build differ in speed, price, labor, parts, drive time, and quote steps. The homeowner who needs power back tonight should not share a budget or page with someone planning an upgrade three weeks from now.
What I manage
Emergency electrical
Built around calls you can answer and run today. The ad never promises same-day or 24-hour help unless a tech is on call during those hours.
Panel upgrades and scheduled projects
Panel upgrades, rewiring, backup generators, and planned jobs usually need a quote or a site visit. The page explains the next step, and the budget check uses your real project price, labor, parts, and margin.
EV chargers
EV charger searches have their own intent when you offer installs. The buyer is usually planning a scheduled job rather than fixing a fault. They want to know if you check panel load, handle permits, and quote the install clearly. That is a separate path from an urgent repair call.
What an electrical enquiry is worth
Value starts with the job type and the result, not the keyword. A panel upgrade may need a site quote and a scheduled date. An urgent fault needs someone on the phone now. A small repair can make money close to the shop and lose money across town. The monthly report shows spend, recorded calls and forms, quality checks, and a next step.
Where electrician spend leaks
Bad search intent is the first leak. DIY wiring, code lookups, permit questions, trade schools, jobs, and parts searches look like electrical terms, but those searchers are not hiring a pro. Mixing urgent faults with EV chargers and rewiring hides which jobs make money. Drive time also matters: a caller inside a wide city target can still be too far away once traffic is counted. Finally, lead counts can rise while booked jobs stay flat when calls go to voicemail.
Search Ads and Local Services Ads are separate decisions
Local Services Ads carry a verified screening badge, which matters to a homeowner deciding who to let near a panel. Search Ads let you name the specific job, such as an EV charger installation or a service upgrade.
The jobs are not the same size. A dead outlet and a panel upgrade come from different searches and settle at different values, so they get separate budgets and separate outcome definitions.
The first test has a boundary
There is no single right budget for every electrical shop. The first test depends on your job mix, urgent hours, average ticket, labor and parts, license rules, drive area, and open truck slots.
Before launch, you approve my fee, the ad budget, the test length, and the review date in writing. On that date, you choose: continue, change, or stop. More calls do not justify more spend unless they turn into real jobs.
A contribution estimate can be added when job values and your stated margin are available.
Start with three numbers
Tell me what the last marketing attempt cost, what a common booked electrical job is worth after your costs, and how many jobs your team can take now. If one number is missing, working it out is part of the review.
Start a conversation or ask for a free review. The first step is a read-only review. If the numbers do not justify more advertising, I will say so.
Questions electrical businesses ask
Should emergency and scheduled electrical work use separate campaigns?
Usually, when the urgency, response process, landing page, or economics differ. Separating them makes it possible to judge the calls you can answer now against the projects that require an estimate or a site visit. A smaller account can begin simpler and add separation as the search-term and booking data justify it.
What negative keywords matter for electricians?
Start by testing DIY, how-to, code, permit, training, jobs, parts, and product searches in the account's search-terms report. Exclude the terms that do not represent a service you sell. Google Ads supports broad, phrase, and exact negative match types in Search campaigns.
Should EV charger installation have its own campaign?
It earns its own campaign or landing-page path when the search intent, sales process, or economics differ materially from emergency work or small repairs. EV charger enquiries often involve a property assessment, an equipment discussion, and a scheduled install date. Account size and your actual numbers decide how much separation is justified.
Does licensing affect the advertising page?
Trust information matters, and legal requirements vary by jurisdiction. Publish the credentials, insurance information, and service details that apply to your location and your business. Do not use a generic licensing statement where a location-specific answer is required.
What should I track besides cost per lead?
Calls, forms, requested service, caller location, answer status, estimate status, booked jobs, scheduled date, job value, and the source you can defend. Cost per lead is a platform number. Cost per booked job is closer to the decision.
How do I know when the ads paid for themselves?
With your margin on file, estimated payback is the date estimated profit at your margin crosses cumulative advertising spend. Without your margin, the honest milestone is revenue crossing spend, and revenue crossing spend is not profit.
